Joshua Creek to showcase Art from the Heart by John Bkila Oakville Beaver Staff 31 | Thursday, January 14, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Sometimes the best pieces of art are the ones that come from the heart. That's the message Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre (JCHAC) hopes to portray with its annual Art from the Heart exhibition, opening Sunday (Jan. 17). In its fifth year, the exhibit features artworks from Community Living associations -- this year, pieces are by artists from Community Living Oakville; its sister chapters in Brampton/Caledon and Scarborough; and the Creative Village Studio/Community Living Toronto. "To them (the artists), art is a tremen- dous source of pleasure," said Sybil Rampen, JCHAC owner and founder. "This is our favourite show. Colour sings throughout the gallery." Artists have experienced adversity, challenges Art from the Heart is an exhibition by artists who have experienced adversity and challenge, and have incorporated this into their artistic practice, inspiration and presentation, continued Rampen. "Every Monday, six inspired artists from Community Living Oakville arrive at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre and within two hours, they have produced their personal masterpieces with laughter and joy," stated a media release. The show will also feature digital illustra- tions by autistic artist Tsochoy Go, who be- starting with a tea party. gan attending art classes at Joshua Creek five The exhibit will be open until Feb. 21, with years ago. a Valentine's Day party set for Feb. 14, featurOver the past year, Go has learned how to ing games, crafts and activities for all ages. use Photoshop to create a set of "dynamic, For more information, contact 905-257futuristic illustrations" for two short stories 4730 or info@joshuacreekarts.com, or visit written by Rampen, which she hopes to pub- www.joshuacreekarts.com. lish.
