www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, January 15, 2016 | 22 New book offers help to conquer picky eating and a return to dinner table An Oakville author wants to help parents eat healthily and conquer the picky eating habits of their children in her new book. Roslyn Fisher says Power of the Table aims to help families rediscover positive connections and healthier relationships with food at "the hub of the household" -- the family dinner table. "Power of the Table helps parents learn supereasy, practical ways to confidently eat better while nourishing the relationships with those they love most," said Fisher. "My book is geared towards families to support children and break the emotional eating cycle that is consuming most people -- from bribes, negotiations and rewards for having a good day. "Families are struggling to feed their children and this book is designed to break this struggle and bring the family back to the table," she continued. "The table forms connections, builds self-esteem, self-worth and positive body images in children." Fisher says those who read her book will "gain insight into why they eat what they do; overcome the fussy eating habits that plague their kids; eat healthier meals that everyone will savour and enjoy; and reclaim the dinner table as the hub of their household." As a Registered Nutritional Certified Practitioner (RNCP), Fisher focuses on overcoming the psychological aspects of emotional eating, including food as what she calls "a control mechanism." The speaker, life coach and Oakville mom says she aims to help readers make smarter, healthier food choices for their families. Fisher is also the founder and owner of Highway to Health, a nutrition practice that offers weight-loss, food-planning and family-nutrition programs to individuals and businesses in the Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton areas. Power of the Table launches Wednesday, Jan. 20 and will be available through Amazon, Kindle, Apple iBooks and in select boutique book stores in the Greater Toronto Area.
