It will reopen on Tuesday, April 7 at 9 a.m. April 13 to 17 is National Volunteer Week. We are celebrating our volunteers a week earlier, on Tuesday, April 7 at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully all 2014 volunteers have responded to accept or decline their invitation. We have 122 volunteers at the Centre. Without them it would not be possible to enjoy such a welcoming, well run and enjoyable Centre. Last Wednesday morning three busy ladies (Shirley Broostad, Mary McDonough and Jane McAllister) arrived loaded with bags and proceeded to set up the penny table ahead of the Spring Bazaar. This is your opportunity to purchase tickets ahead of the Bazaar and put the tickets in the container of the prizes you would like to win. The men's breakfast on Tuesday, March 24 was well attended and 20 men talked about their careers before retirement. The next Men's group meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28 at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are now available at the recep- tion desk for the Alia Fashion Show on Tuesday, April 21. I understand that all the models this year are new members which will give the past models an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the show. 30 members of the Thursday afternoon social dance group added two more leaves to our Tree of Hope on March 26 in memory of Stephanie Westaway, who enjoyed the dancing and exercise it provided. An additional leaf was added from Stephanie's friend Diana Hoey who has moved to British Colombia. Diana's family also donated a leaf in memory of Dr. Vanderbent. That brings the total number of leaves placed on the Tree of Hope to 216. Some of this money was used towards furnishings in our renovated Centre. The Monday morning craft group will resume on Monday, April 13 at 9:30 a.m. after taking a well-earned break over the winter.
