C6 THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, September 19, 2001 Chatsworth and Hall Classic styles for work and play ADVERTORIAL F or the w oman searching for a versatile wardrobe with a classic style, Chatsw orth and H all on Lakeshore Road is worth a look. With w onderful fabrics to choose from , along with a tim eless, elegant style, Chatsw orth and Hall will appeal to even the m ost discrim inating buyer. "We appeal to women who work part and full-time, as well as w omen who need casual wear," says Susan Pritchard, ow ner of Chatsw orth and Hall which has been in Oakville for five years. "You can take one o f our classic basic suits, and through acces sories m ake it either casual or dressy, for a moderate price. W e're not as expensive as you might think." W ith the fall season underw ay, Pritchard has identified three major trends in her clothing. For starters, the colours are more vibrant than ever before, with plum as the hottest colour this year. O ther popular choices are fuschia, royal blue, teal green and ruby red. "Customers w alk into our store and make a beeline for colour," she says. For those people with closets full of the standard earth tones including taupe and black, have no fear! There is no need to throw out pieces in these colours. With a bit o f imagination and flair, you can mix a taupe or black skirt with a jacket or sw eater in a bolder shade for a bit o f drama. Another trend is the all-season fab ric, such as very fine wool blends, microfibre and the ever popular cotton. Women want to be able to wear certain pieces year-round and these new fab rics offer the versatility to do ju st that. A third and final trend is stretch in everything., even the wool, which is 98 percent wool and two percent lycra. "This m eans a slicker style but with the com fort w e expect," P ritchard explains. "Stretchy fabrics are very com fortable and they feel good. A com fortable fit is especially im portant at C hatsw orth and Hall, w hich offers free alterations to ensure that every custom er looks perfect in the clothing they choose. In addition, there are a variety o f clothing lines, some o f which work well with petites like Simon Chang and Kasper, and others, like Seasons which are primarily for taller women. These specific lines, along with the custom alterations mean excellent ser vice and fit for w omen o f all shapes and sizes. Elfie' s offers professional style with a professional touch ADVERTORIAL T w enty five years ago, Elfie L echner saw a building in O ak v ille's dow ntow n core being built and it appealed to her as a good location and design for a clothing store. Since then, Elfie has developed a loyal clientele who keep com ing back for classic clothing that can stand the test o f time. "We appeal to the professional, more mature woman," says Lechner. "We're not really trendy but we do offer classic styles influenced by fash ion. O ur clothing ranges from very affordable to more expensive. Some o f the m ore expensive pieces should be considered as an investment. The fab ric will wear better, making it look like new years from now." This year, Lechner is seeing a lot of camel, black, cream, red and plum, along with more vivid colours such as blazers in hot and soft pink or laven der. "People like colour in w inter which is usually such a long, dull period," she says. "Women w ant to w ear something happy." W hen it com es to style, Lechner sees the return o f the bom ber jacket, shorter blazers and vests in all kinds o f fabrics. Fabrics include houndstooth. herringbone with black trim, plaid, w ashable suede and faux fur linings. "We have outerw ear jackets for fall and w inter in plum, taupy camel and pum pkin, and vests in a wonderful w arm brick red with a sheepskin-type lining." Many o f the pieces at E lfie's mix and match, allowing custom ers to cre ate their own unique outfits using coordinating fabrics and colours. In addition, E lfie's is the exclusive carri er o f Blue W illi's, clothing im ported from Denmark. This is the only store carrying this line in the area, and this year, pow der blue, sand and cam el are the colours added to the traditional denim found with Blue W illi's. "Our store is known for giving good service w ith no pressure," explains Lechner. We get a lot of repeat custom ers who know that when you buy something here, you can wear it for years."
