No sen se o f p eace At 1 8 ,1 have learned that there is still a great deal of hatred in the world today. Before Tues., Sept. 11, 2001, I had rem ained happily Letters to ignorant of all that sur rounded me. I had no the Editor idea the Palestinians were upset with America. I had never imagined terrorists were willing to cause such major tragedy to innocent people. Past calamities never affected me. Hey, I w asn't bom in that time. The present is different; we would never consider war to get rid o f our troubles. We were much more mature than that. I must have been such a dumb kid. On the day o f the attack, I was getting my hair done. This was Grad Photo day. I was to look my best for some pictures that would make my parents proud and provide me with fond memories. Who knew that I would be giving up what was supposed to be "my day," for one of the biggest tragedies since the second World War? By 9:30 a.m., my hair had been done and I was ready to set off to school. After over-hearing talk and radio announce ments about the explosions at the `Tw in Towers," I was confused and wanted to learn more. By the time I sat down in stu dent services and listened to the radio with a small group o f students and teach ers, I was devastated. Wild thoughts ran through my mind. How much tragedy will continue? Will there be a war? Is the world to end as we know it? Well, the world has changed, and it will never be the same again. O ur free dom is threatened. O ur sense o f peace has been destroyed. We are living with walls around us. W hile watching the news, my mother asked a hard questions to answer. "Would you feel safe if a Muslim board ed a plane with you?" I really don't know. Hopefully, in the future, my answer will be in the affirmative.
