Shoppers won't have to leave their vehicles to get their groceries anymore. Online orders can be placed at six locations, including Oakville, Burlington and Milton, with six more to follow in offering the service on Thursday, Feb. 18. Orders placed Wednesday would be available for pickup as early as Tuesday (Feb. 9), while orders placed on Feb. 18 at the next six GTA locations will be available for pickup starting Feb. 23. "We know Canadians are busy -- busy parents, busy professionals, and busy families -- which means they are also looking for ways to save time," Simon Rodrigue, senior vice-president of ecommerce at Walmart Canada, stated in a media release. "We are thrilled to bring the convenience of our Online Grocery Pickup service to the GTA to give our customers a convenient way to find what they need and save money. And best of all, when it's cold and wet out there, customers using this service don't have to leave their car to pick up their order." When a customer places their grocery order online at Walmart.ca, they then choose a pickup | Oakville Beaver file photo time and participating location nearby. Once they arrive at the dedicated online grocery pickup parking spot, they call a dedicated phone line and their items are loaded directly into their vehicle while they wait. There is a $3 fee for the online grocery pickup, while people can order up to 21 days in advance.
