Handgun used in Oakville convenience store robbery by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Thursday, February 4, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Halton police conducted and then called off a ground search for a man, believed to be armed with a small handgun, following a convenience store robbery in the area of Sixth Line and Upper Middle Road early Tuesday (Feb. 2) afternoon. Investigation into the robbery, however, actively continues. Officers reported that shortly before 2 p.m., a male suspect entered Gardens Variety Store on Sixth Line, approached the owner and pointed a handgun. The suspect then demanded cash. Owner handed over money The store owner complied and handed over money from the cash register. The man then fled the scene on foot, heading southbound on Sixth Line, police said. No one was injured. Police and canine unit officers continued searching in the area for the suspect until late in the afternoon. Suspect description The suspect is described as male, black, 6-foot tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black jacket, khaki pants, camouflage hoodie, black cap with a gold sticker on the peak and a black backpack. He also has a goatee. "Call police if anyone sees anything suspicious please," said Baker. Halton police released security video footage in which a weapon is visible.
