Description
This photo album page has three newspaper clippings noting the 90th (in 1962) and 98th (in 1960) birthdays of Hettie Biggar.

"Patient Has 98th Birthday Nurses Hold Party for Her" This "Star" newspaper article text: Mrs. H. Biggar of Bronte, favorite patient in Oakville-Trafalgar hospital, had party thrown by nurses on 98th birthday. With her is Joan Frazer.

"Hard To Believe She's 90 Still Can Sew, Play Piano" Star newspaper article text: Oakville, Oct. 26 - (Special) - Mrs. H.A. Biggar says she doesn't feel over 70 and she doesn't look any more, but, according to her birth certificate, she is 90 years old today. "I can't realize I am 90", she said, explaining that she never has to use her glasses, "not even to thread a needle". Before her marriage Mrs. Biggar was Henrietta Munns and still resides in the house to which she came as a bride. Her grandfather, Daniel Munns was the first white settler in the district, and Munns United Church is named after the family. Mrs. Biggar, mother of the Trafalgar Township Reeve, W. H. Biggar, was organist at the church for over 80 years and still plays the piano at some of the women's meetings at the church. She is a life member of the Women's Institute and the Women's Auxiliary.

"90, Sews Without Glasses" Toronto Star newspaper article reads: Mrs. Albert Biggar with Great-Granddaughter, Nancy, Special to The Star Oakville, Oct. 24 - A member of a well-known pioneer family in this district, Mrs. Albert A. Biggar, will celebrate her 90th birthday Thursday. Yesterday friends and relatives gathered at her home to pay tribute. "I can't realize I have reached 90: I don't feel a day over 70", Mrs. Biggar said. She is up every morning at seven o'clock and active all day assisting with household tasks. Mrs. Biggar can read, crochet and sew without the use of glasses. "And I can still thread the finest needle," she said. Born at Munns' Corners on the Dundas highway, Mrs. Biggar was the former Henrietta Munns, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. King Henry Munns. Her grandfather, the late Daniel Munns, was one of the first white settlers in this district and was deeded the land at the Dundas highway and Sixth line by the Crown. She resides now in the homestead where she first came as a bride. She taught music before her marriage and at 13 was organist of Munns' church. She is a life member of the Women's Institute and the Women's Auxiliary and before her retirement was secretary of the latter. Mrs. Biggar is mother of Reeve W. H. Biggar of Trafalgar township.
Notes
Although the newspaper is identified only as "The Star" in the photo bylines, it is likely the Oakville Record Star which was published from 1949 to 1962 by Wilder and Tina Brickenridge. It was sold in 1962 to the Toronto Star.
