"The kids are starving, so how can they learn? That's why they're all sick," she said, noting CCAMRE currently sponsors 49 children. "We give extra food and extra school supplies for their sisters and brothers, as well." The Oakville resident noted students have to walk five kilometres to and from school every day. "Walking on those paths is very dangerous. Sometimes they don't continue their education because of that. We would like to get transportation for them. There is only one person who has a pick-up truck." The local group is facing a funding shortfall, however, Rossi said, as it is "stretching our limits" to keep its missions going. "We have seven new children, only for one village. They're asking for full scholarships... we need a sponsor for those children. Fundraising is difficult," said Rossi. "I truly want to help the indigenous community. There aren't that many organizations that are helping those mountainous areas. The other villages are stuck."
