The sky '" f 1 was stormy and the air sm elled like cobwebs. People say that on Halloween night the dead bodies awake from the cemetery and start roaming the streets. I've heard the story so many times, that I could hear in my mind the beating heart of their life less bodies. · Betty had just purchased a house on haunted Lane. She had a son named Brandon. He was eleven years old. Her son was going out trickor-treating with his three best friends Antonio, Matthew, and Eric. They felt that they were too old to have parents come along. That night Brandon's mom was hosting a Halloween party. "Mom, Lucia is here. Bye, I'm going now," Brandon said. "Eric and Matthew are here, and we are going to meet A n t o n i o Brandon said. When the b o y s arrived at A n to n io 's house he was wait ing on the steps for t h e m . T w h e e n y t trick-ortreating at Antonio's house, after that they left. They walked by a cemetery but none of them looked at it because of what they have heard. Since it was about five min utes before they got to the first house, they started telling ghost stories. First went Matthew. M atthew's story wasn't really scary. It was more like a comedy. By the time they got to the first house, Matthew was just saying, "The End." All four of them took two pil lowcases to hold their treats, because their plan was to go trick-or-treating at every house in town that night. They also brought some containers, because sometimes they would get candy apples. When they fin ished trick-or-treating they each had more junk food than they could eat in their entire lifetime. On the way home, it was Eric's turn to tell a story. "One night," Eric started, "a few years earlier, a group of friends were having a party on Halloween night. After every one had left, the fam ily started to clean up. Once the house was back in order, the mother noticed a red wine stain on the carpet on the stairs, or so she thought. When asked about the spill everyone in the family denied being upstairs all night. The mother began to clean up the mess but while she was scrubbing she realized that it wasn't wine, but that it was in fact blood! The mother then questioned everyone as to how the blood got there. Everyone denied any knowledge of the blood and also claimed no knowledge of any guest being injured! After she fin ished cleaning, she went down stairs. Later, as she climbed the stairs to get to bed, she noticed the blood had returned in the same place. Obviously frightened by this discovery and not knowing quite what to do, they decided to go to bed to sleep and make a decision in the morning. During the night, the son woke up to sounds coming from outside his window. He looked outside in the front yard and turned ghostly white. Through the pane of the glass he saw dead bodies pressed up against his window. The screams woke up his mother. She also looked out her window and saw rows and rows of crosses. They were both terri fied, and stayed awake all night. The next morning as soon as the family woke up, they put their house up for sale. "W hat an incredible story! Was it true or not?" questioned Eric. The boys thought that Eric was joking, but one look at Eric's face could tell them he was not joking. When Brandon got home, Lucia was just leaving. Brandon's mother told him that the party was a blast! Brandon did not real ly care; he was frightened and very, very tired. All he wanted to do was head upstairs and go to bed. Brandon finally fell sound asleep. During the night, Brandon woke up because he had a night mare. He then heard a sound, got out of bed and then went to the to never have a party on window. Much to his horror, he Halloween night again. They saw dead bodies. never did. His horrifying scream brought his mother running to his room. With his face a ghostly white, he rushed through the details of the story he had been told earlier that night. His mother looked out her window to discover rows and rows of crosses. The next day a for sale sign appeared on their front lawn. Once they moved into their new house, they made a decision mere's a whole new world out (here, discover it today.
