He will be forever missed by his loving and beloved wife Corey (nee Brooks), and cherished sons Jeremy and Keith. Donald leaves behind his brothers Terry (Patsi), Bill, Brian and Greg (Janice) and their families, as well as brother-in-law Jack (Fran) and sister-in-law Dale (Glenn). Donald's wisdom, humour, compassion and above all his love, will always be a part of our lives. He had a life-long passion for learning, and an extremely eclectic variety of interests, including wood-carving, meteorology, music, science and nature photography. He was a talented writer, with a scathingly witty journalistic style, and entertained his family with his "no-holds-barred" family newsletter "Talk Back". Donald had a keen sense of social justice, always concerned for the homeless and disadvantaged; wondering how it is possible that a country like Canada should have a need for food banks in the midst of such riches. As an incisive analyst of the Canadian political scene, he had a great enthusiasm for spirited political debate over a pint of Bass or Guinness at the local pub. In addition, he was incredibly well read and knowledgeable on a vast array of subjects (as anyone who ever got into an argument or trivia contest with him quickly learned.) A special thank you to Dr. Sonny and the emergency room staff at OTMH for their incredible kindness and care. A celebration of Donald's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church (corner of Reynolds and Spruce in Oakville) on Saturday, April 2, 2016. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or CMHA would be very much appreciated.
