Canadian Patio Importers Students from 16 area schools headed to BASEF science fair Students from 16 Oakville schools will showcase their bright minds and intriguing ideas during the annual regional 2016 Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF), this week. Projects of more than 550 Grades 7-12 students from Hamilton, Halton Region, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant counties, and Six Nations, will be on display in the event sponsored by ArcelorMittal. The fair kicked off Wednesday (March 30) runs through Saturday (April 2) at Mohawk College's David Braley Athletic & Recreation Centre, 135 Fennell Ave. W., Hamilton. The public can view the projects from 9 a.m. to noon on the Saturday. Admission and parking are free. Among the Oakville schools represented by participating students are: Abbey Park High; Al-Falah Islamic; Appleby College; Forest Trail Public; Garth Webb Secondary; John Knox Christian; King's Christian Collegiate; MacLachlan College; Maple Grove Public; Oakville Christian; Rotherglen; St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary; St. Matthew Catholic Elementary; St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary; W.H. Morden Public; and, White Oaks Secondary. An awards ceremony will take place Tuesday, April 5, while students with the top projects will represent the region at the Canada-wide and Intel International science fairs in May.
