GIAMMICHELE, Anthony Joseph Passed away peacefully on the 12th of April in his 81st year at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. Tony, as he was known to his family and friends, was a resident of Burlington for the past 27 years but was born and bred in Hamilton. Tony liked nothing more than recounting stories of his childhood growing up in Hamilton's north end Italian, Irish, and Jewish immigrant community during the 40s and 50s --- with his charismatic personality and sense of humour, he was an excellent "raconteur des histoires". Also, like most people of Italian heritage, he loved and lived for his family, friends, and of course, good food. His interests included an amateur passion for politics (especially the rough-and-tumble of the American electoral system), the environment and the welfare of animals. Tony started his career with the Canadian National Railway Corporation and then spent the majority of his working life as a builder and real estate broker---he was a natural deal maker! Predeceased by his loving parents Rocco and Ortenzia (Rossi); his sister Rosina; his in-laws, Paul and Pauline Galus; his brotherin-law, John Galus; and his two special first cousins Anthony and Billy Rossi (Philadelphia). Survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Dorine (Galus); his son, Peter; his twin brother and best friend, Doctor Peter Giammichele; his sister-in-law, Arlene Galus (McNaught); his niece and nephew, Adena Zaborwski and Glenn Galus (their families) and other family and friends in the United States and Europe. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Roman Catholic service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. Private entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation, Burlington Humane Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
