Ethan Parikh, 12, of Mississauga, visited Juno Beach during a trip to France last summer and was deeply moved by what he saw. Ethan's poem, titled Thanking the Hand of Bravery, talks about being surrounded by abandoned trenches and cold metal bunkers, and thinking of the Canadian soldiers, some only a few years older than himself, who fought and died there. "It is important that we realize the contributions these soldiers made," said Ethan. "We should not forget their efforts to keep Canada secure and free."
