Canada, over the past couple of years, has been led by the one-two punch of Bailey and M ontreal's Bruny Surin. And Surin, proving that last year's career year was no fluke, started off his indoor season on the right foot, winning the Saturday night meet in Karlsruhe, Germany with a 6.53 second time over 60m. That's the fastest time of the still young indoor season. Bailey, who had a relaxed 6.64 second result in the heats, had a slow start in the final and shut down the afterburners about midway into the dash, crossing the line in a pedestri an 6.71 seconds for sixth place. As he gears up for this all-impor tant Olympic year, Bailey is in the midst of a busy schedule of six indoor events that is slated to contin ue today (Wednesday, Feb. 2) in Valencia, Spain; this Sunday in Stuttgart, Germany; and next Wednesday (Feb. 9th) in Athens (all 60m events). Then it's back to Austin, Texas for more training before coming back home for a rare event before hometown fans at the Spectator Games at Copps Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 25th.
