Around 7:30 a.m., a driver contacted police after witnessing another vehicle's erratic driving at Dundas Street and Ninth Line, police said. Officers responded and pulled the individual over without incident. A 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level more than 80 mg. Spontaneous fire The Oakville Fire Department believes spontaneous combustion was behind a garage fire, which took place at a home on Balsam Drive early Sunday morning. Firefighters were called to the dwelling shortly after midnight. When they arrived light smoke could be seen coming from the garage. Firefighters opened the garage and discovered a garbage can that had been reduced to ashes and was smoldering. Deputy Fire Chief George Birtig said that while some smoke made its way inside the home the fire did not. A resident who was home at the time of the fire was not injured. Birtig said the fire department has determined the fire started when oily rags thrown into the garbage spontaneously combusted. The Oakville Fire Department is warning residents to be careful with combustible floor vanish products like linseed oil. If rags soaked in this oil are placed in a confined and unventilated space they will get hotter and hotter until they combust. The fire department has previously recommended placing oily staining rags in a pail of water after use to prevent combustion. -- with files from David Lea, Oakville Beaver #hrps "Connected to your Community" What are you crowdfunding for? fuellocal.com is an online platform to raise money through crowdfunding: an opportunity for a collection of individuals to make donations in support of a cause.
