C aring for your leather or suede garm ent: G eneral guidelines - C are when w et-W hile not w aterproof, leathers and suedes are not generally harm ed by rain provided you dry them properly. If your leather or suede garm ent gets wet, rem ove any heavy objects from the pockets and hang it on a sturdy hanger aw ay from sources o f direct heat (hot air vents, radiators, furnaces, etc.) If your garm ent is m ade o f suede or nubuck, you can restore the nap after it's dried by brushing it w ith a suede brush. A dhesive tags-N ever put adhesive stickers, like nam e tags, on leather or suede clothing, as glue will perm anently m ark its surface. Storing your garm ent-N ever store leather o r suede in plastic. T hese natural m aterials need to breathe and should be kept in a cool, dry area aw ay from direct heat. A ltering your garm ent-W hile leather and suede garm ents can u su ally be taken in, they can rarely be let out w ithout leaving noticeable m arks. N ote that pins will leave holes in leather and suede and should not be used during alterations. S m ooth leathers - M aintenance-To rem ove everyday dirt from sm ooth leathers, periodically wipe them w ith a w ater-dam pened cloth. To help keep your garm ent soft and supple and retain its natural oils, periodically apply leather care lotion with a soft cloth using a gentle, circular m otion.
