Big things are on the horizon at Oakville Public Library I t has been an exciting spring so far at Oakville Public Library. On May 11, it revealed Margaret Atwood as the next big name in its In Conversation With... series. Shortly after, the library announced its plans to engage the community as it develops its 2016-19 strategic plan. · In Conversation With... Margaret Atwood (Oct. 24): In Conversation With... is an exciting speaker series designed to feed the inquisitive mind. Presented by Oakville Public Library in partnership with the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and A Different Drummer Books, the series brings some of Canada's top thinkers and influencers to share their works, perspectives and stories. Atwood will take the stage on Oct. 24 and launch her newest novel, Hag-Seed, a retelling of Shakespeare's The Tempest. In Atwood's `novel take' on The Tempest, theatre director Felix has been ousted from his role as artistic director of the Makeshiweg Festival. When he lands a job teaching theatre in a prison, the possibility of revenge presents itself -- and his cast find themselves taking part in an interactive and illusion-ridden version of The Tempest that will change their lives forever.
