www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, May 27, 2016 | 4 LexusofoakviLLe.ca Summer 2016 expected to be warmer than usual by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff The Lexus F sporT evenT 2016 IS 200t F SPORT AT Lease THe This summer is expected to be warmer than usual, says a meteorologist with the Oakvillebased The Weather Network. Nadine Powell, who is part of team of meteorologists and weather specialists at The Weather Network, who, with its parent company, Pelmorex Media Inc., is headquartered at 2655 Bristol Circle, says temperatures will be above seasonal, while precipitation will be "more or less" seasonal. In Oakville, seasonal temperatures mean approximately 25C during the three months of June, July and August, said Powell. "We're expecting above seasonal, (so) it seems as though we may be into the upper 20s (degrees Celsius)... so temperatures a few degrees over that 25C-range." That said, Powell noted people won't have to worry about extremely hot conditions for extended periods. For the most part, it will be warmer than the past few summers, with one or two more days over the 30C mark. Looking back at last year, Powell noted the first day over 30C in the Golden Horseshoe area was in July and there were 11 days where temperatures exceeded 30C. It's already been a different story this year. The summer forecast, however, doesn't account for smaller-scale weather events that can be difficult to predict a couple months ahead as they occur quite suddenly, said the meteorologist. The precipitation prediction tough to call Even though precipitation is expected to be normal, Powell said it can be tricky to predict because thunderstorms are often highly localized and bring differing amounts of rainfall. "One area could experience intense rainfall and another area could be bone dry. We've seen that, certainly in cases of years gone by, like the Toronto flooding and the Burlington Nadine Powell flooding," she said. There won't be any kind of drought conditions either, but that doesn't mean that a few dry spells could occur. When all is said and done, Powell advised people to get outside and enjoy the season. Get outside to enjoy "I encourage everybody to go out and enjoy the summer and have a safe summer," she said. "In terms of active weather, we are heading into the summer months where we see thunderstorms popping up and like I mentioned, they're quite difficult to forecast from such a long distance in the future, so heading into the summer months, just pay particular attention to your local forecast in terms of thunderstorm development and we'll keep everybody abreast of active weather when it does pop up." 0.9% FOR ONLY $399 PER MONTH + HST AND LICENSING Lease offer is based on a 39 month term at 0.9% with $6180 down payment. 20,000 kms allowance per year for a total of 65,000 kms over the full term of the lease.
