- Description
- Many early settlers or residents of Oakville lived close to the founder of Oakville, namely Col. William Chisholm. The location is on our around Navy Street just south of Lakeshore Rd. Many heritage residences (over 100 years old) are located south of the main street of Oakville. They had the advantage of the beauty of the lakeside and goods and services just a walk away from their homes.
The plasterwork and framework on the home appears to be in it's original state. The (former owner) a grain merchant, Mr. McDougaid lived close to Oakville's Granary Mill. He probably sold the grains for the mill. - Subject(s)
