DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ON NEW STREET USE CAROLINE STREET ENTRANCE. l Obituaries PHELAN, Henry Charles June 21, 1919 - June 3, 2016 In his 97th year, Henry passed away after a long and full life and a short illness on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Henry was born in Montreal with a dry wit and steely backbone that can only come from growing up during the depression. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather as well as a voracious reader and highly skilled puzzle solver which he much enjoyed over an astounding 41 years of retirement spent in Oakville after a long career with Avon in Montreal. He loved family, wine, reading, his lawn and his wife's outstanding martinis. We have no doubt that he's already been reunited with his beloved martini maker, the late Carolyn (2011). Henry was also predeceased by his brother Ivan (1992) and sister Viola McDonald (2010) and parents Alfred and Marguerite all of Montreal. He leaves behind his children Kevin (Brenda) of Cambridge and Patricia of Burlington as well as his much loved grandsons Liam and Quinn Phelan and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering celebrating Henry's life will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 3164 Ninth Line in Oakville on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 1 p.m. Visitation with family at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ian Anderson House in Oakville or the Salvation Army would be much appreciated.
