Register by June 25 for Prom Dress Soccer Soccer can be quite the tough, athletic game -- even tougher while wearing a prom dress. Rotaract Oakville is once again on the look out for participants for its Prom Dress Soccer fundraiser with proceeds going towards the Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House. Wellspring is a network of community-based support centres offering free programs and services to people living with cancer and those who care for them. The soccer event will take place on Saturday, July 9 from noon to 5 p.m. at the River Oaks Recreation Centre, 2400 Sixth Line. Teams of between six to 10 players are invited to show up in prom attire and battle it out on the fields -- games will be six versus six players. Registration must take place by Saturday, June 25 by email to rotaractcluboakville@gmail.com. There is a minimum entry fee of $100 per team. Anyone unable to put together a team, but still interested in playing can register as an individual for a $15 fee and Rotaract will form a team for them. Payment will be accepted on the day of the event. Prizes will be awarded for the Best-Dressed Team, the team that fundraisers the most money, and Best Team Spirit. There will also be a silent auction and raffle prizes, and snacks and water will be provided. People are invited to cheer on the teams and take part in activities ongoing while the games take place.
