The sale, which traditionally has been a four-day event, has expanded to include one more day o f shopping. Opening today with the popular Friends Members Only event, from 6 to 9 p.m., the sale follows with four days for the public - Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Books will be 50% off on Sunday. Books for sale, which are on display in the auditorium of Central Library, 120 Navy St, include parenting books, fitness books, children's books, adult fiction and non-fiction, reference materials, encyclopedias, books in languages other than English, and lifestyle and how-to books. Each Spring and Fall, Friends of the Library, a non-profit fund-raising and advocacy group, sells used library books for 95 cents per pound, with the money going to Oakville Public Library services and enhancements. This group has raised over $100,000 in six years through book sales, an annual raffle, donations, and the sale of $10 annual memberships. Auditions for the Cherub Choir (Grades 2 and 3), the Intermediate Choir (Grades 4 to 8, no experience necessary) and the Senior Choir (Grades 5 and up, with musical background) can be scheduled by call ing 337-7104. In the recent Kiwanis Music Festival competitions, the OCC Cham ber Choir placed first in the SSA Choir Competition (three-part harmo ny), and the Senior Choir placed second in the Youth Choir class. The choir was also awarded the Toronto Kiwanis Choir Scholarship, a prize awarded by the adjudicator. The OCC was founded in 1994 by its music director Glenda Craw ford and has grown to over 100 choristers in four levels. The singers' wide range of repertoire, varied concert programming, and high standard of performances has earned them an excellent reputa tion within the performing arts community.
