- Description
- This photograph was donated to the Trafalgar Township Historical Society by a long-time Palermo area family. We don't know if any of these men were members of the family, employees of either company or what the connection with Trafalgar Township was.
However, in looking closely at the photograph for information, please note that only the man in the centre sitting on the grass has a top hat. Some of the other men have a soft cap, some a fedora, some a straw boater hat. There is a tradition that the first captain through the locks in the spring is honoured with a top hat and perhaps this is the reason this man is in an honoured position in the photograph.
Harold Millett Grant Cartage Co., also known as H.M. Grant Cartage Co. or Grant Cartage Co. was located next to Canada Steamship Lines in Hamilton according to the Vernon's City Directory, 1925. - Inscriptions
