Sunday, April 23, 2000 Oakville Beaver Weekend W hen I was about 4 years old my grandpa told an Easter story. It was called The Country Bunny Story. I'd bet you'd like to hear it so let me begin: O nce there was a little bunny with yellow fur and a little cotton ball tail and said to all the people of the bunny town "I will be an Easter bunny -- you wait and see! But all the people said to her "Co home and eat a carrot." The little girl cotton tail grew up to be a beautiful lady cot ton tail. Then she had a husband and before you could say "Jack Bunnuson" she had 21 babies to take care of! So then Bob Jackson one of the bunnies w ho had told her she w ouldn't be an Easter bunny laughed and said "We told you, you would never be an Easter bunny. O ne day the telephone rang. It was the old bunny that chose all of the Easter bunnies. He said to her "Come right away, there is a meeting with all the bunnies to see w ho is going to be the newest Easter bunny." So she cam e right away. W hen she was there she saw the old bunny stand ing o n ih e stairs of the castle w here he lived. He was telling all the swift and cllver bunnies to show him what they could do. They were all very fast aril crfverhL^ the old bunny still didn't pick any of them to be the Easter bunny. Then his eyes fell on "Cotton Tail." She had been able to look after 21 bunnies so well that he knew that she would be an excel lent Easter bunny. She was always so kind and considerate and able to handle many tasks at once, so "Cotton Tail" was chosen as the newest Easter bunny. It was the night before Easter so she told her kids that she would have to leave but then she would come back when she was done giving out the eggs. So she went to the castle where the Easter eggs were. She worked too fast and so quickly that when she was done she felt like she was going to fall asleep standing up. Then the old bunny said you can go back home when you deliver this special Easter egg to a girl in the hospital. Her leg has a blood clot. Look into this mirror and it will show you where you have to go to get there. Then "Cotton Tail" got to the hospital and snuck into the girl's room. Then she put the beautiful Easter egg in the girl's hands. After that, she went back home to her chil dren. They were already asleep and so she put an Easter basket for each of them beside their beds. She thought to herself "I will never forget this magical Easter! It has been such fun."
