More than 250 people on 37 teams, took turns walking laps from 7 p.m.1-a.m. The evening included music, yoga, a live choir, a marching band, and kickboxing, as well as the traditional luminary ceremony honouring those who have died from cancer or are ghting the disease. A Survivors' Lap once again took place as cancer survivors went on the track in celebration of beating the disease. The relay culminated with a Fight-Back Ceremony, in which participants pledged to ght back against cancer in their own lives throughout the year. Pictured, clockwise from top right, a group of friends from Caledon, Emma's Angels, who attended to honour a friend lost to cancer. The relay path hugged Lake Ontario in places. Luminaries, in honour of those battling, or who have lost their battle, with cancer lined the path. Each luminary, lit as the sun set, had a special message on it. Michelle Lombardi (left), Lynn Mytroen (centre) and Ann King (right) are sisters, all of whom are cancer survivors. Lombardi is a breast and melanoma cancer survivor of seven years; Mytroen nished treatment for lymphoma cancer in December; and, King, who completed her treatment for breast cancer in 2014, was diagnosed with lung cancer in January of 2015, but said, "I'm going to beat it!" Sixyear-old Joey was one of the younger cancer survivors at the event. Joey was diagnosed with leukemia in January and still has one month left of treatment. Joey, his parents and younger sister were shown support by the many survivors who also attended the fundraiser.
