TD Summer Reading Club begins June 27 at Oakville Public Library 21 | Friday, June 24, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com R egistration for the TD Summer Reading Club opens next Friday, June 27. During this free, summer-long program, kids can take part in weekly dropin activities and earn great prizes while strengthening their reading skills. Parents can register their children online via www.opl.ca or by visiting a Summer Reading Desk at any Oakville Public Library branch. In addition to setting reading goals and collecting prizes, TD Summer Reading Club participants can visit the library for free, weekly activities like storytimes and other `wild'-themed fun. Scavenger hunts, animal puppet-making, `bog bowling' and a cowboy photo booth are just a few highlights. Midsummer Reading Celebration A special Midsummer Reading Celebration will also be held at Glen Abbey Branch, 1415 Third Line, on Wednesday, July 27, featuring interactive games, face painting and balloon animals. All are welcome to attend. Reading recommendations Book lists and summer reading recommendations for children of all ages will soon be available through the TD Summer Reading Club section of the library website. Library staff are always available during open hours to provide early literacy advice, support and helpful resources. Volunteer opportunities Opportunities to volunteer during TD Summer Reading Club are also available for high school students (aged 14 and older). Teen volunteers are also being sought to help out at the ArtHouse Summer Camp (Central Branch, July 11-15). Interested teens can apply online through the application form available via www.opl. ca.
