Something for everyone to see and do on Canada Day: Sargent continued from p.1 "We're just proud ours is known as one of the best," Sargent noted, describing how the BIA's Canada Day celebrations is a familyoriented, safe and inclusive event that takes place in a naturally scenic environment. It not only attracts local residents, but also others along Lake Ontario who can't help but marvel at the spectacular fireworks display, she said. The celebrations, presented by Lexus of Oakville this year, start at 11 a.m. and run until 11 p.m. Opening ceremonies will be presented at 3:15 p.m. when the Royal Canadian Legion's Colour Party and Halton Police Pipe and Drums will lead dignitaries to the main stage for greetings and the singing of O Canada. Birthday cupcakes will be served to the first 200 children. Live music includes tributes to The Guess Who and Supertramp. On the Cogeco Community Stage will be community performances. Food will be served at local restaurants, cafés and patios, including the Catch Hospitality beer garden, which will be offering an expanded menu this year. There will also be a vendor village featuring an array of products in addition to Oakville's health and wellness and professional service provider's area. 5 | Thursday, June 30, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com We are the smallest BIA, but we're very proud of the way we have grown the success of Canada Day along with the support of our community partners and sponsors, without whom, this event could not take place. Reflecting on years past, she said she's pleased with the BIA and the community's accomplishments in making the event successful each and every year. "We are the smallest BIA, but we're very proud of the way we have grown the success of Canada Day along with the support of our community partners and sponsors, without whom, this event could not take place," said Sargent. She noted how the cost to host it has significantly grown.
