The Sheridan College student team included Alexandra D'Oliveira, Michael Mofina, Patrick Marchent, and Neil Smith. Students from across the province were invited to submit a landscape or industrial design proposal for a local Toronto creative hub, Artscape Youngplace, with the hope of having their winning design brought to life. Teams attended a two-day Design Jam where participants developed and presented their concepts to a panel of judges. The challenge resulted in six top prizes being awarded and members of the winning teams each receiving a scholarship award. The Sheridan College student team each received a $3,000 scholarship for their first place design. "The goal of the Design Challenge is to ignite creativity and innovative environmental landscape architecture and industrial design for urban spaces, while showcasing the aesthetics, functionality and high performance of Ontario tire-derived products," stated a media release. "The winning student designs will influence real construction at Artscape Youngplace in the coming year."
