With a variety of classes designed to fit even the busiest of schedules, Morningstar offers classes from beginners, to intermediate level courses, and straight through to black belt classes. "We are a traditional martial arts school," said Morningstar. "We place an emphasis on development of the character of the person as a whole and on discipline, confidence and respect." Participants can begin learning the art of Taekwon-Do as young as 7-years old. Studies have shown that children in Taekwon-Do show an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in the willingness to take foolish risks and a higher sense of self-esteem. In addition to building confidence in both children and adults, Taekwon-Do is often prescribed by physicians as it brings forth a positive way for children and adults to exercise their energy, and relieves stress. With an emphasis on mind-body training, the benefits extend much further than those awarded through the use of a standard gym membership. Studio founder and head instructor, Morningstar began his training at the age of 18, achieved his black belt in 1987 and went on to obtain his fifth degree black belt international instructor certification, as well as his certification through the International Taekwon-Do Federation to be an examiner and referee. As the head instructor, Morningstar teaches the majority of classes offered, travels across Canada and the United States conducting seminars and training sessions, and in 2003, he became the first instructor officially sent by the International Taekwon-Do Federation to teach in South Korea since 1972. Having spent time travelling with the founder of Taekwon-Do, as an assistant, Morningstar offers students authentic and traditional training passed down from the founder. While many students join the school to learn a new skill or to increase their fitness, Morningstar has students who have had success in a competitive capacity, with 30 students having represented Canada at a World Championship, and a former student claiming the title of World Champion. Located at Unit 5, 1410 Speers Rd. in Oakville, the school offers students a way to prepare mentally and physically for the stresses and challenges of everyday life. Apple Self Storage launches new office units giving clients flexibility By Vanessa Lupton Expanding on their successful self storage operation, Apple Self Storage has expanded its services to include a new offering, flexible office space rentals. Located at 700 Third Ln., Apple Self Storage is now offering Apple Suites, 45 office suites that are available for companies to rent on a month-to-month basis. "There's a lot of synergy between the two concepts," said David Allan, Director of Business Development, Apple Self Storage. " We have an office rental in Aurora but have expanded into Oakville. It's a beautiful new space with a concierge, kitchenettes, and all of the regular office space amenities." Predominantly utilized by smaller operations or new businesses, companies typically rent anywhere from one to three offices which are on average 160 square-feet. Each office has a standard configuration, however if a company is looking for something a bit different in their office set up, arrangements can be made to accommodate those needs. "We find that it's very much like an incubator type of space," said Allan. "We find that companies often start with one office and then build up and by the time they get to three offices they move towards finding a permanent space." One of the convenient aspects of both the suites and the self-storage being at one location is that companies are able to utilize both elements to their benefit. A company that needs storage space in addition to office space will enjoy using the self-storage as a flexible warehouse. "One of the things that is different about our company is that we have what we call a deluxe package which offers premium storage," said Allan. "When you purchase this package, our facility becomes registered as a key-holder, which means that a business doesn't have to be on location to receive a delivery or shipment, as one of our staff will take the delivery and place it into the assigned storage unit, giving the company a bit more freedom." Sticking to the self-storage business model, Apple Suites offers a minimum level of commitment, with the option of month-to-month services or pre-paying for the rental for the full duration of needed time. In addition to the regular suite rentals, single day rentals and room rentals are also available.
