"I'm proud of the work Halton Region has done to create a safe and wellmaintained road network," said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr in a press release. Halton Region says it is making progress decreasing congestion on its roads. Its regional roads are also safe, efficient and wellmaintained according to a report outlining the progress the Region has made when it comes to its transportation system. Regional Council affirmed an investment of nearly $1.4 billion in transportation and road safety over the next 10 years. On average, $120 million is committed annually for ongoing and "Our population continues to grow at a rapid pace. The investments we are making in our roads as we roll out the Transportation Master Plan will meet that growth and also support the economy by moving people and goods efficiently throughout the region," said the regional chair. The Red Light Camera Program has also helped reduce high-impact collisions at all twelve intersections where the lights have been installed, according the report, which states another two red light camera units are forecasted to be installed somewhere within the region in 2016.
