Oakville man feels compelled to do his part to help continued from p.34 "I don't know what it is, but every time we turn around there's someone we know that's suffering from cancer," he said. "I don't know the stats that well, but it seems to be getting worse and worse and there's so much suffering attached to it. You've got to do anything you can to help people afflicted by this disease." He has also met cancer patients face-to-face during the previous rides he's participated in and will, as part of the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, be meeting a number of young children battling cancer. At the start and end of each day, riders will participate in community events and visit many of Canada's 17 pediatric oncology centres and hospitals where the cancer community will share inspiring stories of strength and hope with cyclists and the media. "I'm curious to see how it will impact us all," Mosley said. "I've heard it is pretty hard as anyone with children will understand. Fortunately neither of mine has been unwell, but you still worry about them. I think that will be the hardest part, more so than the riding, but we'll find out." Mosley has been training since last fall, four to five days a week during the outdoor season. He notes he's probably cycled about 10,000 km and is looking forward to getting on his bike and testing his limits as part of team cycling together. Cycling on your own, he noted, can be tough, and it will be nice to have the support and camaraderie of a team all dedicated to the cause. To follow Mosley's progress, visit keithmosley.tumblr.com. Oakville's Brooklyn and Jeff Rushton will also be riding on the national team. They have raised nearly $89,000 so far, with a goal of raising $150,000.
