Cyclist loses life in accident A 57-year-old Oakville man was killed while cycling Sunday (Aug. 14) at the intersection of Lakeshore Road and Third Line. According to Halton police, around 7:05 p.m., a Grey Saturn Vue was westbound on Lakeshore Road when it struck a cyclist from behind at the intersection of Third Line. The Saturn was being operated by a 22-yearold Oakville man, who did not suffer any injuries as a result of the collision. The cyclist was transported to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital where he later died of his injuries. Due to the nature of the collision, the Halton Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over investigation. Lakeshore Road at Third Line was closed for approximately four hours in all directions for the collision scene investigation. The driver of the Saturn was arrested on the scene, but later released unconditionally. Charges in the collision have yet to be laid.
