MP hosting forum on climate change Monday at QEPCCC continued from p.6 This is why I am so pleased that the federal Canada Summer Jobs program is supporting 77,000 summer jobs -- more than double the number of job openings supported in 2015. This program is one component of the Youth Employment Strategy , and it reflects the Government of Canada's commitment to help youth prepare for a successful transition to the workplace. Here in Oakville, Canada Summer Jobs provided funding of over a million dollars to create 352 student jobs. Earlier this week, I was pleased to celebrate the success of this program by touring various organizations who hired local students and speaking with both employers and students about their experiences. We ended the day with a reception at the YMCA -- one of the participating organizations for all local participants of the program. It was very satisfying to learn about the positive impact these job opportunities are having on our young people. Your federal government is committed to creating more jobs and better opportunities for young Canadians. The Canada Summer Jobs program is just one facet of a comprehensive strategy to ensure our youth are positioned for success in their chosen fields. Before closing, I would like to remind Oakville constituents of my Climate Change Town Hall next Monday (Aug. 22) at the QE Park Community Centre (2302 Bridge Road). This forum will focus on ideas about what our community can do to reduce and adapt to climate change. If you plan to attend, kindly RSVP on my website at johnoliver.mp.
