No horses harmed in massive Oakville barn fire Tuesday morning by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Thursday, August 25, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The Oakville Fire Department says no people or animals were harmed during a massive barn fire, which broke out in the Dundas Street and Tremaine Road area early Tuesday (Aug. 23) morning. Fire crews were called to Bertin Stables, 3445 Dundas St. W., at around 1:30 a.m., after receiving reports about a blaze on the property. Oakville Fire Chief Brian Durdin said firefighters arrived to find a barn fully engulfed in flames. They also discovered a burning woodpile to the north of the burning barn. "The barn does house horses, but on our arrival the responsible party there had gotten all the horses out of the barn," said Durdin. "The barn was empty on our arrival." The barn fire was finally extinguished at around 7:15 a.m. No property damage estimate is available at this time, however, Durdin said the barn was completely destroyed.
