Halton Region hosts Canadian municipal leaders this week Canadian municipalities have descended on Halton for a four-day meeting to discuss the second phase of the federal government's infrastructure plan and the affordable housing crisis in Canada. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) National Board of Directors meeting takes place at the Oakville Conference Centre from Sept. 13-16 and has invited guests that include Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Dwight Dorey, National Chief of the Indigenous Peoples' Assembly of Canada. "This is a historic moment, with municipal priorities now front-and-centre on the national agenda," stated Clark Somerville, FCM President and Halton Regional councillor representing Halton Hills in a media release. "The municipal sector is united and ready to strengthen its partnership with all orders of government to deliver for all Canadians." Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr said council is delighted to welcome FCM delegates to Halton. "The September FCM Board Meeting is an important opportunity to establish policy and advocacy priorities that will help address the critical issues facing municipalities across the country," he said. "By working together, we can ensure that the voices of all Canadians are heard."
