Artscene g | Oakville Beaver FRIDAY, JANUARY 27,2006 31 Dancers ring in Chinese New Year By Krissie Rutherford OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF More than 40 members of the Oaklands Regional Centre and SENACA Seniors Day Program were treated on Wednesday to a Chinese dance performance to start ringing in the Chinese New Year. The Year of the Dog, which starts on Sunday, was commemo rated by local teacher, choreogra pher and graduate from the renowned Juilliard School, Joanne Chow, along with eight of her young dance students from the dance club she runs at Joshua Creek Public School. Chow opened and closed the show with solo dances, including a traditional Feather Fan Dance. In between her dances, eight of her Grade 2 dance students took over. The Ribbon Dance perform ance marked Joshua Creek Dance Club's very first community out reach performance.
