The Year of the Dog, which starts on Sunday, was commemo rated by local teacher, choreogra pher and graduate from the renowned Juilliard School, Joanne Chow, along with eight of her young dance students from the dance club she runs at Joshua Creek Public School. Chow opened and closed the show with solo dances, including a traditional Feather Fan Dance. In between her dances, eight of her Grade 2 dance students took over. The Ribbon Dance perform ance marked Joshua Creek Dance Club's very first community out reach performance.
