More than 500 swimmers, representing 10 different swim clubs, competed in the meet, which was highlighted by `Eliminator 50s' -- a series of 50-metre races in which the winners were awarded $25. Fox took home the most cash, winning the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and fly in the girls' 13-14 age group. Teammate Rachel Petford won the other race in that division, the 50m backstroke. Other OAK swimmers winning money in the eliminators were Zac Odger (boys' 15-and-over fly and freestyle), Rachel Chan (girls' 15-and-over fly and breaststroke), Brody Dyson (boys' 13-14 backstroke), Cam Cummings (boys' 15-andover backstroke), Zack Chetrat (15-and-over fly) and Erin Assman (girls' 11-12 200m intermediate medley). High-point awards were given to swimmers in each age group that garnered the most points in their events, and OAK swimmers took four of the eight awards. Assman was tops in girls' 11-12 competition, winning seven events, while Fox took top honours in girls' 13-14, Chan was first in girls' 15-and-over, and Cummings won the boys' 15-and-over grouping. Minor peewee Rangers sweep first two series After posting an undefeated record in Tri-County league play this season, the Oakville m inor peewee A Rangefs have breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs. Oakville, 21-0-3 in regular-season action this year, swept the Guelph Storm and Burlington Eagles in its first two playoff series. The Rangers' dominance this year is illustrated through several different statistical categories. Their 45 points were 11 more than their nearest competitor (Brampton, 34), their 122 goals-for were 19 more than any other team (Brampton, 103 and their 41 goalsagainst were 11 less than the nearest squad (Brampton, 52). Oakville dominated the Dundas Blues in the opening round of the OMHA playdowns, outscoring Dundas 23-2 and winning all three games. The Rangers then won a tightly-contested series against the Woolwich Wildcats, going 3-1-1 in the five games (three of which went to overtime). At the Silver Stick, Oakville defeated Clarington 5-2 and Walden 3-1, then fell 4-2 to Southpoint and 4-3 (in overtime) to eventual tournam ent champion Dallas. Blades collapse late in loss to Streetsville Allowing two goals in the final two minutes of the third period, the Oakville Blades fell 3-2 to the Streetsville Derbys Tuesday in Provincial Junior A Hockey League play. The Blades built a 2-0 lead after two periods, but Streetsville scored early in the third and added the two late goals for the come-from-behind victory, the winner coming with 1:08 remaining in regulation. Luke Moodie scored a pair of powerplay goals for the Blades. Jesse Adair, Kyle Frieday, Lane Moodie and Paul Conter earned assists. The Blades' loss could prove to be a costly one as the team attempts to lock up home-ice advantage in the opening round of the upcoming playoffs. With two regular-season games remaining, Oakville sits fourth in the West Conference with 54 points. The Burlington Cougars are two points behind the Blades and own a game in hand, while the Derbys are three points back and also have three games remaining. Streestville visits the Blades tonight at Dominion 'Twin Rinks, and Oakville wraps up.the regular-season tomorrow with a home contest against the Bramalea Blues. Suspenseful win for minor atom AA Rangers There was no shortage of drafna or suspense in the Oakville minor atom AA Rangers' recent OMHA playoff series victory over the Caledon Hawks. After opening the series with a 5-2 victory, the Rangers failed to win any of their next three games and found themselves down 5-3 in the total-points series. With the first team to six points being the team to move on, Oakville needed to win the final two games of the series. The Rangers managed to do exactly that, with both victories coming in overtime. Mark Martone scored the decisive goal in the sixth game, pouncing on a loose puck in front of the Caledon net after some strong forechecking work by Scott Docherty and Luke Nicol. Docherty had tied the game 22 with 2:54 remaining in regulation, while Conor Holly potted the other Oakville marker. A.J. Smith made sever al difficult saves throughout the game and earned the victory. In the previous contest, Andrew Kew scored in the Tyke AAAs start playoffs with victory After a disappointing loss to Meadowvale last week in exhibition action, the Oakville tyke AAA Rangers rebound ed to down Stoney Creek in their first playoff game. Four days after being blanked 1-0 by the Hawks at Canlan Ice Sports, Oakville hit the ice Monday at Dominion T\vin Rinks and easily defeated the Warriors 51. Will MacQueen sparked the Rangers with a hat trick, while Matthew Danner and Kyle Potts added singles. Nicholas Randell and Trevor Furgiuele each earned a pair of assists and Jonathan Donville, Matthew Milford, Daniel Moll and Danner also contributed helpers. The Rangers return to action this weekend in the BMO West London Tournament.
