I have chosen to approach this subject by way of verse. My submission is entitled "The Space In Which We Live." The space in which we live Is a large space: domed ceilings, arched doorways And stone - lots of good, solid stone: it resists time. Our windows are actually doors and they open onto a small garden below - a formal garden of boxwood and statuary, enclosing and enclosed. From Jan. 27 - March 25, The Oakville Beaver will publish a series of con tributed articles for Oakville Addresses, a new public program at Oakville Galleries. We asked a variety of local Oakvillians, both teens and adults, to write a short essay on their favourite artwork from Oakville Galleries' permanent collection. Today's article is by Nancy Arnold. Nancy and Mike Arnold are the proprieters of Oakville's Trafalgar Ales & Meads. Oakville Addresses is a complementaty pro gram to the exhibition Addressing Oakville, on at Centennial Square, 120 Navy St., until March 26. The air is fragrant; the attar of roses drifts upward to our balconies. It is caressing, soothing, healing every malady and grievance. Our neighbours are boisterous, energetic, loving life to the nth degree. And their world opens onto ours. We make space for each other. 0A C Poetry Cafe returns Feb. 19 The Oakville Arts Council's next poet ry cafe is set for Sunday, Feb. 19 from 24 p.m. in the auditorium of the Oakville Central Library, 120 Navy St. The afternoon features David Seymour, who will be reading from his full-length collection of poetry, Inter Alia.
