The O akville Beaver, Friday F e b ru a ry 17, 2 0 0 6 - 27 Oakville Chamber Orchestra presents Affairs ofthe Heart The Oakville Chamber Orchestra hosts its second of three concerts for the 2005 - 2006 season, Affairs o f the Heart, on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5. Music director and conductor, Stephane Potvin and the Oakville Chamber Orchestra will dedicate the concert entirely to the theme of love. From the modern Mozetich's Affairs o f the Heart with soloist Arpad Josephson, through Beethoven's Romances with soloist David Rehner to excerpts of Gluck's Orfeo, every piece deals with some idea of love. Along with these titles is a rather unknown work by American composer Howard Hanson, Nymphs and Satyr Ballet Suite. How Affairs o f the Heart came about is a bit of a coincidence. A number of unrelated events just mingled in my head and became the concert we are presenting in March," said Potvin, adding that several people approached him with music dealing with love. The Oakville Chamber Orchestra presents Affairs o f the Heart on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 340 Rebecca St., and on Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Simon's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd. Call Ed Gravel, 905 337-1083 for tickets, $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets are also available at the door. The show, which will feature poetic works with a strong social critique, is slated for Sunday, April 2 at the Moonshine Cafe. The idea for the show came from a group of poets from the Halton, Peel and Hamilton area, concerned that they were few outlets for poetry with social messages - public poetry instead of personal poetry. To participate in this afternoon of original poetry, contact Elka Ruth Enola, ere@sympatico.ca and let her know what you would like to read. Poetry with a Conscience is. Sunday, April 2 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Moonshine Cafe, 137 Kerr St. The cafe has a stage, mike and is licensed to serve light snack food. Admission is free.
