In making this *announcem ent Wednesday morning at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Ford of Canada president and CEO Bill Osborne said this country will officially enter the hybrid age by 2010 when the OAC begins volume produc tion of the near-zero emission, high fuel economy vehicles. The 5.4 million sq. ft. complex, now undergoing a massive conversion to flexible manufacturing, will employ nearly 4,000 people. As a flexible plant, OAC will build multiple models on unique platforms. "Hybrids will put Ford at the fore front of vehicle assembly innovation in Canada, forever changing the land scape by producing vehicles that sig nificantly reduce smog-forming emis sions and are extremely fuel efficient," said Osborne.
