The team , sponsored by Tim Hortons, World Kitchen Canada Inc. and Dukes Contracting Ltd., reached the final with a 2-0 win over the Stratford Aces -- a team the Hornets lost to 2-1 in round-robin play. The host London Devilettes edged Oakville in the final, scoring a third-period goal to win 3-2. Libby Burgess scored twice for Oakville in the losing cause. The H ornets aiso fell 3-1 to Bluewater and defeated Hamilton 21 during the tournam ent. Also scoring goals for Oakville during the tournam ent were Paige Goloubef, Brooke Kotack, Dayna Newsom and Candice Styles. Nicole Paniccia made eight saves to record CiRLS'HOCKEY the shutout versus Stratford. Novice A Continuing their strong season, the Oakville novice A Hornets blanked Leaside 4-0 and tied Waterloo 2-2 in recent girls' hockey action. The results extended Oakville's undefeated streak to 16 games and maintained the team's lead in the North Metro Tier 1 Division. Kaitlyn McAllister recorded a hat trick against Leaside, with Charlotte Aziz also tallying. Kaitlyn Norris, Kristen O'Neill, Taylor Mair and Hailey den Elzen drew assists and Daniela Pannica earned the shutout. McAllister once again had the hot hand against Waterloo, scoring both the Hornets' goals. Mackenzie Stamper, Kaitlyn Perichak, Abigail Papineau and den Elzen had helpers. Oakville won two of its first three games to qualify for the finals, where they dropped a 39-26 decision to the Brantford CYO Falcons. The game was a rematch of the Vipers' second contest, which Oakville led until a late threepointer by the Falcons gave them a 20-18 win. In the Vipers' other games, they downed Etobicoke 27-13 and cruised'past Southwold 3515. Oakville will host its own tournament this weekend at White Oaks Secondary School.
