Woman struck on Speers by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 3 | Friday, September 23, 2016 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com A Toronto woman in her 50s is in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in Oakville Wednesday morning (Sept. 21). The accident was the second in as many weeks to occur on Speers Road between a pedestrian and vehicle. Halton police say the collision took place just after 9 a.m. Wednesday on Speers Road between Kerr Street and Queen Mary Drive. The extent of the women's injuries is unknown, however, she is in stable condition, according to Halton Regional Police media relations officer Sgt. Barry Malciw. A witness told the Oakville Beaver a car with a smashed windshield was observed at the scene. Malciw said the driver of the vehicle was not injured. No charges have been laid. This is the second accident involving a pedestrian and vehicle over the last two weeks. On Wednesday, Sept. 14, an Oakville woman in her 70s was fatally struck by a Mack truck on Speers Road, some distance from the Fourth Line intersection, a stretch of roadway with no controlled crossing, according to police.
