Beloved wife of Kris ("PIMSEY"), cherished mother of Leela (Steve Gensens) and adoring granny to Madi and Logan Gensens. Mimsey devoted her life to her family. In the early years in Quebec, Mimsey became a community leader and could be found officiating a swim meet, organizing an ice skating show or cranking out an award winning school newsletter on the ditto machine. Mimsey always said that volunteerism was the rent you pay for living in a great community. Mimsey cherished her road trips to Komoka to hang out with her grandkids. She loved relaxing by the pool watching the kids swim, while sipping on an ice cold lemonade and savoring the smells of her much anticipated cedar planked salmon. While in Oakville, Mimsey became a fitness enthusiast at age 60 and took up power walking. Mimsey quickly became an icon in the community, zipping around with her yoga pants and visor and inspiring many people to get active. The highlight of Mimsey's day was walking with great friends and meeting so many new ones along the way. When Mimsey couldn't go on her long walks anymore, she knew it was time to go. Thanks to Dr. McPhaden, Nurse Kari and the Team at OTMH Cancer Center for their care and support. Please join us for a Casual Memorial Reception on Saturday October 1, 2016 from 3-5 p.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville.
