Man acquitted of charges laid in 2012 Halton police investigation A 38-year-old Oakville man charged in March 2012 by Halton police with numerous child pornography-related charges was acquitted of those charges. The Halton Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation in February after receiving information about a suspect allegedly in possession of a sexually-exploitative video involving children, specifically a teenaged girl. According to police, investigators issued three Criminal Code search warrants on a Weston Road home in Toronto, an Oakville residence and a Mississauga business. Police reported a quantity of computer equipment, including laptops, storage devices and web cameras, were seized. Later the same day, Gary Edwards, 38, of Oakville was arrested without incident. Charges included two counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of printing and publishing child pornography, and two counts of importing and distributing child pornography. Edwards was acquitted of all charges, according to Halton police. ] Robynne's career began in 1984 at the North Bay Nugget, her hometown newspaper.
