Blakelock High School is pre- senting a student production by Sarah Stewart and Sophie Wells, The Disposables. The play investigates a group of frustrated office workers who attempt to form a union. Teacher Sylvia Goncalves directs the 19-student cast. Thursday, Feb. 23 of the festival kicks off with White Oaks Secondary School's production of Rivals and Wrongs, by the White Oaks Drama Ensemble. TVvo strangers arrive in Vincenza, Italy, just in time for the town festival. They find themselves in the middle of many rivalries - some sibling, some romantic, some deadly. Rivals and Wrongs is a collective creation in the style of Commedia Dell'Arte, directed by the ensemble and staff advisors, C. Rosser *and H. Wilford. Burlington's MM Robinson High School presents Manifestations of the Super Ego, by Gemma CabralGushue, Cherlyn Cochrane, Teryn Daly, Matt Gardner, Saber Hobson, Vasa Lukich and Dale Wilson. A family of four goes through what begins as a normal day, but hidden desires bubble to the surface for each. The cast of eight is led by teacher, S. Connolly. Burlington Central High School presents Runaways, by Elizabeth Swados. The play, explores the reasons young people run away from home, what they face while they are out, and what leads them home or prevents them from getting there. The cast of 15 is directed by teacher, Stephen Fletcher. The final day of Halton's Festival, Friday, Feb. 24, starts off with Milton's Bishop Reding High School's produc tion of What' s Going On Behind the Glidden Paints Curtain? Written by Julie Price and Ryan Kuch, the play examines the theatrical illusion during the rehearsal process, and the audience gets to see a produc tion's creative development, culminat ing in the curtain rising on the actual performance. Student Madeline Arnold directs a cast of eleven, assisted by Dan Santos. Oakville's Abbey Park High School presents a student work, The Last Stop, by Tyler Cowan and Scott Meiklejohn. The play mimics the style of an absurdist work as it follows the story of two men at the eternal last stop, where they struggle to find reflective meaning in their lives and in what may come in the future. Cowan and Meiklejohn direct a cast of eight. Milton' s E.C. The Sears Ontario Drama Festival for Halton district is Feb. 22-24 at 7 p.m. and takes place at Nelson High School, 4181 New Street, Burlington. Tickets cost $8 per night.
