However, you have anoth er option: Manufacturers offer carpeting kits that interlock together and are not attached to the floor. They work like puz zle pieces and can be removed and taken to your next residence. For permanent changes, like changing linoleum in the kitchen or stick-down tiles, ask your land lord before proceeding. He may be willing to offset the cost of this improvement.
