Oakville, 9-0-2, now leads second-place Nepean by five points in the PWHL standings. The Hornets host Nepean tonight (Friday) at 8:30 p.m. and Ottawa on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Joshuas Creek Arenas. Last Saturday, five different Hor nets players scored and Annie Mac Donald had two assists for the third game in row. Emma Maltais broke a 2-2 tie with five m inutes to play in the sec ond period. Townsend Fall Classic opens OAK swim season The Oakville Aquatic Club hosted its first m eet of the 2016-17 com petitive season last weekend. The Brad Townsend Fall Clas sic at Iroquois Ridge Community Centre attracted participants from the Region of Waterloo and Garden City aquatic clubs. More than 200 members of the Oakville club participated. For some of the younger swim mers it was their introduction to racing, while for senior swimmers, it was a chance to stay involved w ith racing. "This meet initiates the first m onth of the swimming quadren nial -- the next four years lead ing to the Tokyo Olympics," Sean Baker, OAK head coach, said. "Al though few will make the Olympic team, it is our intention that the OAK program will lead every child through a process in which they become a better athlete." He added that the process will help develop the athlete for success in and out of the pool. "We believe every child will maximize their individual poten tial and reap the rewards associated with the pursuit of personal excel lence," Baker said. First-place finishers from the host club included Ethan Ma, 12, and Aidan Zhang, 10, across six events w ith Rodrigo H ontoria Arroyo, 14, placing first in five events. Beatrice Abid, Yousef Hozayen, Nika Tomic, Amy Wang and Ma bel Zavaros added three first-place finishes for OAK while Finn Dun can Snobel, Sam Greenshields, Adrian Haasler, Christina Ji, Anton Kaploun, Alex Lee, Alyna Liu, Callum MacPherson, Griffin Shake speare, Jorja Shemilt and Sophie Tran each won two races.
