The Oakville Beaver. Wednesday March 22, 2006 - 17 Happy St. Patrick' s birthday LUCK OF TH E IRISH: Angelo (Andy) Diafrati wore green to celebrate his 100th birthday on St. Patrick's Day. Kim Perras, Activity and Volunteer Coordinator at Sunrise Assisted Living, where Diafrati lives, shows him the three candles that have 100 marked on them. Diafrati, who says he has the 'luck of the Irish' and wears green to celebrate his birthday and St. Patrick's Day, was born in Manchester, England. He survived the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918, never lost a job during the 1930s Depression and escaped unscathed the bombing of Britain during the Second World War. He attributes his longevity to sensible eating, enjoying the occasional beer, exercise - he used an exercise bike daily until age 85 - and "being born on St. Patrick's Day." Diafrati came to Canada with his late wife Rose - she died 15 years ago - in 1972. He has three adult chil dren, three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
