Shao Yang's foray into fashion began at a very yoting age. With an extensive collection of Barbie dolls, she dressed every one of them with wedding gowns of her own design made of handkerchiefs and tissue paper. Focusing on her creative energy at Fiorello H. LaGuardia School for the Fine Arts, Shao soon realized that as much as she loved fine arts, her true passion lay in fashion design. After graduation, she enrolled at the prestigious Parsons School of Design. Since her graduation, Shao has interned with Twinkle and Fiorucci and was an associate designer at Kay Unger New York. Feeling the need to express her creativity fur ther, she approached the CEO of Nemesis Records and became the designer/stylist for singer/song writer Kristine Sa. Through her label Shao Jun, Shao looks to not only introduce her aesthetic of beauty, but also to explore her Asian-American roots and convey certain aspects of the culture through her designs. The inspirations for her collection occasionally derive from her Asian heritage, revealing truly sophisti cated, unique modern pieces and artistry.
